This brought back so many wonderful memories. When C & J were little, we played paper dolls for hours on end. Hubby even made them a card board house. We had so much fun. Hugs

Paper dolls bring back such memories..I loved them so much..Betsy McCall and would cut and hold them for hours on end..Thank you dear lady..

It seems that while the actual clothes and accessories for my real dolls were not in the family budget (or my dad's consciousness ;) during my childhood, the paper dolls, with wardrobe accessories and, sometimes, houses w/furniture, were often an affordable packet. As well, since we moved so much (my dad was in the service) these were easily packed/replaced/stored/carried along with me on travels.

What wonderful memories Audra, and so funny that BettyAnn mentioned Betsy McCall too!! I LOVED Betsy McCall and culled her from any McCall's magazine I could beg from family friends. I hear she's highly collectible now, thanks to all of us little girls from the 70's wearing her out!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with adjusting to the lack of a microwave! If it's any consalation, I've heard that using a microwave too much isn't that good for us...but don't know if it's true or not. Just start collecting those little tiny sauce pans at yard sales and thrift shops...they're wonderful for reheating those chilled cups of tea and coffee. Surprisingly, it doesn't take much more time to actually heat it on the stove than in a microwave (the small batches,that is).
