Welcome...we're lucky to have you!!!
To live content with small means...to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion...to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich...to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly...to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart...to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, never hurry...in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious...grow up through the common...this is to be my symphony.
---William Henry Channing
Note: Words to live by. This poignant quote touches me more now than when I used it in my first book, Frugal Luxuries, Bantam Books, NY, NY, in 1997.

really pretty! all that blue is so peaceful.
maybe if everybody in the world painted their rooms blue, everyone would be calmer and we might have world peace. :)
hahaha...I agree!! In fact our house walls are the palest of blue...to promote home peace (it all starts at home;).

Tracey,
I love light blue paint and have been wanting to use it in my home. The only problem is that we have a sports team in NC that has taken "Carolina Blue" so I want to make sure that I steer clear of that color. Can you tell me some of the names of the paint colors that you have used in these photos?
Thanks,
Shannon
Hi Shannon! While we have had our entire house painted in pale blue shades for well over a decade (I consider it a neutral) the images above aren't my own (they were collected from other sources and thus are inspiration). That being said...the pale blue on the swing is closet to what we use on our walls. It's called "arctic blue" and is made by Dunn Edwards. However, many of the home stores, such as Lowe's and Home Depot, will be able to make the Dunn Edwards's colors as well (in case there isn't a DE store near you). One thing I have found is that I always seem to choose colors that are much too dark...the best rule to make sure you get the perfect color for your home, taste and light, is to bring home samples of several shades and paint each into large swatch onto your walls and decide which color you like best. My own experience has taught me that I always end up choosing a much, much lighter than my original color choices (usually one of the lightest on the sample chips). Hope this helps!

Tracey

Oh, that shade of blue is just heavenly. I want to move into those rooms and just soak up the beauty for a few minutes... or a year. Love the pics. Thanks for posting. :)
So true Clarice, yes, in my case it's like I imagine summers in France to be like. :)
