A Wondrous Friend... Delicious Food... and Recycled Egg Cartons

Yesterday morning...

we met with a very good friend

for breakfast at a tiny little cafe that served the most delicious food...

When we asked for water they left this chilled jug at our table.

(This is a picture of the bottle after we drank all the water.)

I thought it was a such a clever way to re~purpose these lemonade bottles...

(we find ours at Trader Joe's)

that I asked Katie to take a picture of it so I could share the concept here!

Katie said, "Mom, did you see the ceiling?"

I looked up and discovered this...

Recycled...

Egg cartons!!!

A time~honored, environmentally friendly strategy

...to cover a less than perfect ceiling!!

I soon discovered that this little cafe is known primarily for its egg dishes...

and brioche French toast...

all of which are amazingly fresh and so delicious!!

I wanted to get these little inspirations posted before I got sidetracked!!

Hope you found them as fun as I did!

Warmly,
Tracey and Family

P.S. Tomorrow I will post some great packaging ideas for cookies.

I made and packaged some

for our good friend

who met us for brunch...

they turned out so cute!!

Aren't friends wonderful, gifts from God. I'm truly blessed as I'm sure you are to have friends we can get together with. How I wish I could meet you in person, dear friend. Hugs and love

Yes, you said it just right Carol, friends are wonderful gifts!! It would be lovely to live closer and be able to gather for tea and treats...even still...I do appreciate this little wonder called the internet that allows us to meet in the ethers!
Good thoughts and love from...
Tracey.

I love little places like that. So many of ours have gone out of business because of the national chain restaurants.

Sad but so true Brenda. It is always a pleasure to find one, like this, that is thriving. With their fresh and local ingredients, prepared with care, I cannot see how they could not succeed. Once the word gets out...of course...and the word is most definitely out on this little place. We had a bit of a wait before they could seat up...but it was very worth it!
Love,
Tracey

Finding new uses for objects instead of discarding them is a wonderful gift to give to our earth and to our children and grandchildren.
The lemonade bottle reminds me of how in France, when we asked for tap water to accompany a meal, it was brought in a wine or liquor bottle, charmingly shaped.

I always enjoy your posts.

Hi Lorrie!!
Thank you so much for the nice comment. I should have known they borrowed the idea from the French... it has all the earmarks...so clever, practical and charming.
Warmly,
Tracey

I had a feeling it would stimulate your creativity Clarice...and I was right! I never thought of it in a French style country kitchen, but it would probably be very fun. Good for a country French style cabin/farmhouse/cottage too!
