Rummaging Up Emblems of Spring... Vintage Silver Baskets...Marble Eggs...Rusty Bunnies

a few years ago...

three vintage French baskets came to me at a yard sale... for a song.

They are composed of woven strands of tarnished silver...mimicking their humbler wicker cousins.
(Above you'll see the smallest of the three.)

The largest was a charming wine basket...

into which I tucked a bit of moss and nestled a bottle of our homemade, herb vinegar

This would make a lovely and welcome hostess gift...if only I were willing to give up the basket.

Into the larger, more traditional basket I tucked more moss...

and rummaged around my holiday pantry looking for...

...these three marble eggs I've had for years and years.
I also tucked in an old rusted metal bunny...for fun.

~~~~~~
So...what emblems of Spring are you rummaging up at your house??
Tracey I love your vintage French baskets!! They remind me of the vintage funeral baskets that I have only smaller-
You have filled them with loveliness!
I haven't been able to get a lot of Easter decorating done but did get out my Mom's sugar eggs that she made for us years ago - love those!
We get our building for ministry this week and have guest arriving this weekend so it will be a busy one!
Thank you Terri!! I especially appreciate you noticing the photography. I've been practicing A LOT lately to make my pictures look a little better. :) Even still, I've a long way to go, especially since my camera decided not to work and all the photos from the past three posts have been made with my iphone!!
Audra, I totally forgot I had these baskets until I found myself rummaging for some simple Easter decor in the junk...ummm...craft room cabinets!! These were sooo simple and quick to put together which makes them,of course, my most favorite kind of project! (Always a goal of mine, projects that look expensive and time consuming...but are not!!)
WOW those are gorgeous! They way you've decorated them is beautiful as well
Happy Easter!
Tracey McBride ~ Frugal Luxuries® said...
Thank you Carol! The funny thing is I didn't even recognize how well made they were at first. (I was thinking they were cheap knock offs, like those baskets you can buy at the dollar store.) I bought them to make gift baskets and then noticed the maker's mark once I got them home and started to clean them up a bit! (I only paid a dollar each for them.)
Thanks again!!
Hi Deb! Decorating them was incredibly easy. I had the moss out from another project I had just finished so I tucked a handful into the smaller silver basket...and I liked it! The hardest part was digging up those marble eggs I had tucked away in my holiday pantry/cupboard a while back! ;)
Happy Easter!
I would never get rid of those baskets. They have such a gorgeous look, I can think of other ways to use them, more than just Easter. Thanks for stopping by today. Aren't these parties such fun.
Tracey McBride ~ Frugal Luxuries® said...
Hi Sherrie!
You are so right...these baskets have been used in other ways...mostly to hold cookies and biscuits and wine on a buffet table! This year, however, they've been hijacked for spring decor!!
This is the first time I've participated in a blog party/hop and it's so much fun to visit you and all the other bloggers on the bunny hop :). You have such fun and pretty collections!!
What a great feeling!! Now you've given me the bug...it's so nice today I think I'll gather up all our pots and soak them in a bleach and water mixture tonight!! Then they'll be ready when I'm ready to transplant the herb seedlings we've been starting in our egg cartons!!
