Illuminated fragments...

Hello my darling friends...I've been puttering around trying to continue creating my vision of serenity decorating (see above).
I painted a round black mirror (found it for $12 at a close~out sale)
and hung it on the stair landing...

...created a delicious trail mix for about half the cost by buying my favorite dried fruits and nuts from Trader Joe's and mixing them together...TIP: I use kitchen shears to snip larger pieces of dried fruit, such as ginger or dates, into smaller pieces. Doing this stretches the sweeter elements of the trail mix without adding extra sugar (which I'm always trying to keep at a minimum)...

...also tried my hand at making butter in the food processor from a wonderful recipe I found HERE. It was sooo incredibly easy, and a great way to use up the raw cream before it spoiled! You can also make it with regular whipping cream.

Last...but certainly not least...I whipped up an easy pumpkin spice bread that Rosie had been craving...for her to enjoy for breakfast. I made her take half of it to school (so I wouldn't eat it ;)!

Hope you are having a lovely week and a happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Love and Good Thoughts to All, as always.

Warmly,

Tracey and Family x0x

Wow Tracey you have been so industrious! So glad you mentioned about the trail mix as I am needing to make some more. The butter reminded me that a friend gave me 2 quarts of whey. I had asked for a little bit for water kefir that I make and she gave me tons! I am going to have to figure out what else I can do with it. I know you can use it in yogurt too but the amounts are so tiny it will take forever to use it up!

A fellow missionary asked if she could have a women's retreat at our place in May so I better get industrious and texture and paint another guest room!

have a blessed
weekend

Hi Mary Ellen...just came back from your site and have to tell you how GORGEOUS your homemade Easter baskets are...great tutorial! As for the whey, you can also use it in baking in lieu of water or milk to up the nutrition factor! I even freeze it sometimes to use later when making our muffins and a homemade flax meal bread I make a lot...I think it makes it taste better too! Also, Katie likes to add it to smoothies.

Hope you're feeling better Bettyann! Thanks so much for the kind words. To answer your question, yes, I did use a primer...Kilz stain blocker works well and keeps the stain from bleeding through the white paint! I like the oil based primer and then use a water based paint over it, once it had dried. :) I also want to try that "no sand" primer called Zinzer...but didn't want to try something new on such a big project so stuck with Kilz as I've used it many a time with great success. :)))

Love how the mirror turned out. I always love white...there is just something about it when it's done the way you painted the mirror. I've done that with several frames in our home. Hugs

Thanks so much Carol! Yes...white is so soothing and works well in visually expanding our small house. I agree, an ordinary frame, painted white is a lovely frugal luxury!

Lovely to see you've been happy about your home. Spring, summer, fall and winter, I love nothing better than piddling about my home.

Georgia is in the midst of Spring (never mind dates, we're in middle of it anyway!). The grass grew about four inches last night and we'll be doing the first mowing of the season. I can't wait to smell mown lawn and charcoal smoking away.

Love the house Tracey. It looks so serene and beautiful.

Wow have you been busy or what. Love your photos. I make butter with left over cream before it wastes.

Not as busy as you Caroline! Hope you enjoyed your vacation and that your little dog Chloe is faring well after her bout with the snake. :) Sending good thoughts to you all.

How have you been Tracey?? Been thinking of you and wondering what you have been up to? Take care and enjoy Spring..

Well thank you Bettyann, for thinking of me and dropping a note! I'm busy planning our garden and doing a bunch of other stuff. Mostly, I've been spending too much time "researching" ideas for our postage stamp size back yard (I use the word "yard" loosely:). I have a ton of wonderful inspiration pictures so will probably post some of them here this week! Hope you are doing well and enjoying some uplifting spring weather. IMore soon my kind friend.
