Some of our recently culled treasures.
These recent additions to my treasure trove were acquired for a song at an estate sale! After snapping a few pictures to share here, I began a bit of research on how to put these lovelies to work. The images below are just a few of the many great ideas I've uncovered.

Small Revere~style bowls become charming planters.
A "one and lonely" silver chalice becomes a lovely vase for a single bloom.
Silver pedestal cradles natural sachets and pretty soap in the powder room.
Silver trays are wonderful for corralling small collections.
Bent flatware transform into whimsical hooks...
...and ladles become storage for smaller items.
Silver bowls and pitchers enhance an ordinary buffet's beverage center/bar.How do you use your vintage silver finds?
Do you prefer a slight tarnish...or a mirror~like shine?
Confession: I'm a tarnish girl...would love to hear your preferences!

I have my mom's vintage silver..I have a ring I wear made from my baby spoon:)
I use the silver for real life serving at lovely family occasions.. Burn candles in it.. put bubble bath..flowers etc..
It's so pretty to look at..
I like a bit of tarnish but not that yellowish gold look:(

Ohhh...Monique...a ring from your baby spoon...such a treasure! I am not surprised at your many creative ideas and uses of silver...you are a poet in many ways. :)

P.S. You are so right about the yellow tarnish...I too prefer the pewter color.
Hahahah...tee shirts are a great idea Clarice! We will all declare ourselves. ;) Yes, you're right, I'm over the moon with these goodies! What a gift (you wouldn't believe that I paid only $15 for the lot!!!) They were pretty black when I found them but a sink full of soapy water, a sponge and lots of elbow grease got the big pieces just where I like them. In fact, I've already put a few of them to work!

Tracey, I am so inspired by your re-purposing of items. I am wondering if you have any clever ideas for swivel sticks used in mixed drinks? I have some fun ones made from glass but no clue what to do with them them other the hot chocolate stirs. Help...

HI MJ! Speaking of inspiring...your Make and Take parties are an absolute inspiration!!! Loved your food swap post. Such a great idea. As for your question regarding the glass drink stirrers...I'll need to give it some thought! I have a few of those myself (love 'em!) and use them when I want pretty stirrers for small pitchers of lemonade and cranberry punch at the beverage center for small dinners/parties and the like. As for craft projects...marine glue (it dries clear and is water resistant) would be involved...for sure. Possibly I'd use them to embellish ordinary glassware in some way??? Great question though! Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Thank you for the great ideas. I have some things that were my mother's which I put away because we don't do much formal entertaining. Now I think I'll take them out and use them.
I'm a tarnished girl myself. I recently found such a pretty 5 arm candelabra that is silver plate- $5.00 at a yard sale! I have always wanted one!
Lovely ideas for using silver- I have lots of silver platers around the house- have cloches on some, tea set on another..etc.
