What a pretty organizer! I once made a utensil holder that matched my kitchen by painting a new clay plant pot with acrylic paint. When the paint dried, I glued a flower print ribbon around the top of the pot.
It looks nice, saves a lot of drawer space and keeps the utensils within grabbing distance.

Hi Tracey
What a pretty and inexpensive way to organize!

The painted can reminded me of an event I did for our church...a patriotic dinner. Using cans of various sizes (donated by lots of friends!), I painted the base coat of the cans red and/or blue. I then hand-painted stars, stripes, or decoupaged patterns cut from patriotic fabric on them. Some of the cans were "punched" and used for candles. Others held small American flags. It was fun...and inexpensive. I think the total price for the centerpieces was around $30 for 20 tables!!!

"FRUGAL LUXURIES: Simple Pleasures to Enhance Your Life and Comfort Your Soul" was written by Tracey McBride and published by Bantam Books, NY, in 1997. It was the first of its genre to synergize the elements of simplicity, frugality and gracious living.

After more than a decade, FRUGAL LUXURIES has never been out of print and is now more relevant than ever.
