Frugal Luxuries: Farm~Stand Bounty

Farm stand bounty...

a quintessential frugal luxury!

We've been visiting Al's farm stand for well over a decade.

I'm still in awe at the creative way he uses newspaper (above) to envelope the strawberries...keeping them safe during their journey home
(he added a trio of stemmed strawberries as a present :).

We hope you are enjoying all the frugal luxuries available during this bountiful farm~stand season!

Sending good thoughts and love to all.

Warmly,

Tracey and Family

We always stock up on the fresh Roma tomatoes (above, right) whenever they're in season (and so well priced...at five for a dollar!).

Thanks so much! The strawberries were deliciously sweet and the green beans tender and fresh. :)

Beautiful, yummy produce ~ and some reasonable prices too! No green beans in my little garden this year (pout), thanX to the weather.

The prices are even better now dixmiss! These were taken a few months ago...at the start of the season...I've just had a few computer problems so have just now been able to post!

Tracie I love the old fashion fruit stands like this. You can hardly find them any more around here unfortunately.

My little garden is providing a nice little bounty of veggies and so I feel I have my own personal fruit stand in my back yard!!

Pray all is well with you friend! I am a bit melancholy realizing that summer is quickly passing and the birds and flowers will be once again silent for a season or two.

You are so right Audra...the farmstand...the personal service...the charming wrappings and the little extra gifts are just a wonderful throwback to a time when you know who was selling (and, in this case, growing) our food!

You're so lucky that your farmer's market sells organic eggs! Ours is produce only however, we are blessed with free eggs given to us by my dad's neighbor. She has four chickens who produce overabundance of eggs and she is so generous to share them with us from time to time!

Thanks so much for the nice note. :)

Love,
Tracey

Hello dear Mary Ellen...so good to see your name. :) Oh yes, I've seen what you can do in a garden and what a frugal luxury it must be to go out your kitchen door to gather food for a meal! We have only herbs and cherry tomatoes this year (the farm stands are supplying so much at such good prices) yet I find myself heading out there with my basket and scissors on a daily basis! Take care my sweet friend.

Hi Clarice...oh yes...this wonderful climate has it's many gifts. :) I just visited your newest post on setting up your charming outdoor kitchen! It had me wishing you lived closer! I could bring all my farm~stand goodies over and celebrate the bounty with you...have a canning/freezing party. :) Oh well...someday perhaps.

Hi Tracey
Just discovered your blog through Pinterest- where I have been loving your ordered chaos pin board!
Love your blog and wish I lived near to Al's farm. What a bountiful selection. Love the wrapping of strawberries in newspaper. So simple and effective.
Looking forward to going back and reading more.
