Reflections...

Dear friends, how are you? Did you miss me?
During these days of silence I have been doing a lot of recharging after a near month of very ill health that threatened to… but blessedly did not… ruin our Christmas. This, of course, was due to the happy fact that I finished my holiday shopping by the end of November (and wrapped them all as well). As I lie about these past three weeks healing I did much reflecting and new ideas rushed to my mind and I can't wait to share them with you. That being said, I was not able to accomplish much recently so there is little to show you of my own work, but I dearly wish to leave you with something lovely to look at... pleasant scenes that made me feel better simply by looking at them.

Isn’t it a miracle how pictures of pretty things and places can stimulate good things in the brain/body? Makes me appreciate the obscure gifts inherent in the multitude of lovely images and ideas that are constantly shared on this wonder we call the Internet...such hidden powers and amazing gifts. We are blessed with an embarrassment of riches.

Sending love and good thoughts to all, as always.

Warmly,

Tracey and Family x0x

I sent a prayer up for good health in 2011.

I love white in January. Is it because there are always such good white sales now?

You are so kind LTDN! Christmas and the New Year were times of rest for me, for the most part. The beautiful thing was that my father and my husband did all the cooking and cleaning and taking care of everything for me during that time. On Christmas, they prepared together a standing rib roast! That evening, after a long rest, I walked into the kitchen to find them together at the stove, whisks in hand, my father was teaching my husband (not a cook) to make gravy! It was a beautiful sight to behold. A memory I will cherish.

Oh Tracey, I'm so sorry to hear you've been having health troubles. Please take good care of yourself, and hopefully all will be right again very soon.

Make sure your husband makes gravy for you, that'll help :)

Hahahah...Ellen...you're so funny! Thank you sooo much for the good thoughts. Happy news is that I am very much on the mend now and think I've taken care of the root of the problem (a long time inner ear infection that moved to the sinuses, ugh). I'm on the come back trail to be sure!!! Thanks again my friend!

You're so right Clarice...new year...new possibilities...and I am super optimistic about things. I've had that nagging ear/sinus problem all last year and once it came to a head it was taken care of at last. Yay! Unfortunately, it hit during the holidays, but at least I was able to keep my head up for Christmas morning. :)
Thanks so much for the kind words, as always.

Tracey, I'm so sorry that you've been so ill! I'm happy that you're feeling better. I spent a happy few hours re-reading some parts of your book yesterday as we are snowed in. Atlanta has been shut down by the snow and ice all week. Happily the sun is shining today so there's hope that we can all get out of houses by tomorrow (before we all go insane)!

Tracey, sending good wishes on healing wings to you. You are so right about inspiring images, they are so calming. I enjoyed your photos as I sit waiting for the next mountain of laundry to spring forth out of the dryer. A lovely respite for a few minutes. Thank you for giving me that.

Wishes you good health and a joyous year to come.

So glad you enjoyed them as much as I did Kalanicut! I do the same thing...pop on the computer for inspiration during the odd minutes between chores...sort of like a mini reward for getting things done. :)

After more than a decade, FRUGAL LUXURIES has never been out of print and is now more relevant than ever.

"It's our hope that a new generation, faced with a teetering economy, will also find this information helpful and enlightening."
